The Istituto degli Innocenti and the Tuscany Region have joined forces to enhance the role of the Regional Documentation Centre for Childhood and Adolescence. The collaboration for carrying out documentation, training, and experimental activities on issues related to childhood and adolescence has been renewed through a two-year agreement.

Set up by Regional Law no. 31 of 2000, the Regional Documentation Centre for Childhood and Adolescence, whose activities are entrusted to the Istituto degli Innocenti, aims to support the Tuscany Region's initiatives in the field of childhood, adolescence and family, with a particular focus on reform processes.

The recently signed agreement between the Istituto degli Innocenti and the Tuscany Region renews and strengthens this commitment, reaffirming the importance of the Centre in the framework of regional policies, including its essential function in supporting the regional areas and districts in planning and monitoring interventions.

Regarding documentation, analysis, and dissemination, the agreement provides for:

  • Retrieval, review and analysis of scientific texts, standards and statistical data.
  • Bibliographical and legal review of issues related to childhood and adolescence.
  • Participation in the functions of the Regional Observatory on Childhood, Adolescence and Families with special focus on data collection, processing and provision; participation in thematic round tables and drafting related reports; processing of regional data and local area profiles.
  • Monitoring activities by designing, implementing and maintaining information systems and carrying out specific surveys.
  • Dissemination of knowledge through the Innocenti Library, portal and publishing series.
  • Bibliographic, legal and statistical references.

The second area of activity mentioned in the agreement is training, support and promotion of projects:

  • Design and implementation of training activities and professional practice updates.
  • Support for planning and joint project development at local level, in accordance with regional guidelines and in implementation of the LEPS (Essential Levels of Social Services).
  • Support for designing and implementing services and interventions.
  • Implementation of public initiatives to disseminate knowledge and experience.
  • Organisational secretariat.

Finally, the agreement provides for the design and development of experiments and pilot actions also with a view to a possible extension on a regional scale.
