Wave - Digital Inclusion for Young Migrants is the Erasmus+ project implemented by the French Red Cross together with the Istituto degli Innocenti and other partners to promote the digital inclusion of young migrants.

In particular, the initiative aims to empower young people with a migration background by improving their digital skills, literacy and access to the digital world. And not only that. The project has two other important objectives: strengthening the skills of practitioners and teachers so they can effectively support these young people in their digital learning journey; and empowering young migrants to actively contribute to the digital inclusion of their peers with a migrant background through peer support and community engagement. Among the project’s target groups are not only young people and adolescents with a migrant background, but also the teachers and educators who support these youths in developing their digital skills.

The project includes various activities, such as the creation of a training kit to enhance the digital skills and inclusion of young migrants; the implementation of training pathways on digital skills based on the toolkit developed within the project; job shadowing for youth workers and digital trainers (two youth workers/digital trainers from each partner country will travel to another partner country to observe and gain practical knowledge from experienced trainers in the field); and peer-to-peer activities to help young migrants improve their digital skills.

The Istituto degli Innocenti will focus its work on the target group of unaccompanied foreign minors and, together with the other partners, will be responsible not only for monitoring, developing the methodology, and designing the interventions, but also for strengthening digital skills and capabilities among young migrants, as well as providing training for digital trainers and youth workers who will support them.

In addition to the Institute, project partners include the French Red Cross, Generation for Change CY (Cyprus), Faros (Greece), and IAFM (Spain).
