The broken coin. A story of Tino il Nocentino

The publication is in Italian and English. The Broken Coin. A story by Tino il Nocentino was produced thanks to the support of the Fondazione Istituto degli Innocenti Ets for the exhibition ‘And I Shall Keep the Other Half.

The recognition signs of the Ospedale degli Innocenti’. It tells children the story of the Istituto degli Innocenti through the voice of Tino il Nocentino, a child who was taken into the old hospital.

The narration is inspired by the accidental finding of a broken coin in a cupboard by Anna and Martino, two little brothers who immediately run to their grandmother to ask about the discovery.

The exhibition ‘And the Other Half I Shall Keep. Recognition Signs of the Ospedale degli Innocenti’ is open from Thursday 4 November 2022 until 31 January 2023 in the historical section (basement) of the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence. The exhibition tells the story of children's recognition signs, those small objects worn on their arrival at the historical hospital and once necessary for future recognition by their families.

The booklet can be purchased at the Bookshop with a minimum offer of 6 euros.
