angolo cucina nuovo del Nido Birillo

An experimental and free educational service for children and families. Crescere insieme, a project promoted by the Region of Tuscany and the Istituto degli Innocenti as part of the activities of the Regional Documentation Centre for Childhood and Adolescence and part of the overall offer of the 0-6 Innocenti Centre for Childhood, opens its doors to all children and families on Saturday 4 March, from 10am to 12 noon (Istituto degli Innocenti, entrance no. 12).

This is an opportunity to learn more about the project which was set up to promote activities geared towards supporting parenthood by welcoming children and their families in a context of relationships, socialisation and play, but also by creating opportunities for adults to meet, get to know each other, compare notes and discuss issues of common interest. The various activities of Crescere insieme seek to meet both the needs of the youngest children and those of their parents, with a view to preventing difficulties or weaknesses.

Giocare insieme (Playing together) is the service through which children between 12 and 36 months of age, accompanied by a parent or another family member, can explore games and materials while establishing relationships with their peers in an educational context. The service is also available to adults who can open up to dialogue and share their experiences with the support of facilitating educators. One or two afternoon meetings per week are planned, between 3.30 and 6.30pm on the premises of the 'Birillo' day nursery at the Institute.

The other part of the innovative educational service is Conversare insieme (Talking together), a series of meetings for parents or adult family members held by researchers from the Institute or experts from the Azienda Usl Toscana Centro, in the Sala Poccetti at the Institute’s headquarters in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, usually on the second Wednesday of the month.

In the coming months, Primi passi (First steps) and Formarsi insieme (Training together) will also get underway. Primi passi is an educational activity for families with children up to 11 months of age. It will give children the opportunity to take part in play experiences in an educational context, and adults the opportunity to talk and compare notes with the support of attentive and helpful educators. Formarsi insieme, on the other hand, will offer training courses aimed at health, social and educational service practitioners based on a multi-professional and multidimensional intervention model that aims at strengthening the resources of families with complex needs and their network of relationships.
