Guida cyberbullismo

Digital technologies are now an integral part of children and young people's daily lives. Indispensable tools for communication and relationships, they are a valuable resource for young people. At the same time, however, they expose them to unpleasant or dangerous situations. To prevent and counter these risks, it is important that parents and other supporting adults are adequately informed about safe web use and cyberbullying. Luci e ombre di una generazione interconnessa. Cyberbullismo: impara a conoscerlo (Lights and Shadows of an Interconnected Generation. Cyberbullying: Learn About It) is the title of the guide drafted by the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with the support of the Istituto degli Innocenti. The guide is specifically aimed at mothers and fathers with under-age children and other supporting adults. It serves as a useful tool to understand the phenomenon of cyberbullying, navigate its consequences, and stay informed about the relevant legal framework.

The publication - available as dedicated news on the Department's website - explains in a clear and simple manner what cyberbullying is and what can be done to prevent and combat it. It also provides some tips for safe online surfing, as well as advice to define clear and shared operational rules that reduce the likelihood of deviant or incorrect behaviour, including cyberbullying.

The text also discusses the responsibilities of cyberbullies and their parents, and indicates the professionals and institutions to which mothers and fathers can turn to deal with the problem, whether their children are cyberbullies, victims or otherwise involved in the phenomenon.
