15 November 2024
Area di attività

On the occasion of the World Children’s Day, 20 November, the Istituto degli Innocenti, in collaboration with the Region of Tuscany, as part of the activities of the Regional Documentation Centre for Children and Adolescents, is organising the conference “Prendersi cura delle famiglie con vulnerabilità. Uno sguardo alle politiche della Regione Toscana per il benessere di bambini e genitori” (Caring for Families with Vulnerabilities. A look at the Region of Tuscany's policies for the well-being of children and parents). The conference will focus on families and possible interventions to support them, and will take place in the Institute's Brunelleschi Hall. It will be attended by institutional representatives, lecturers, experts and researchers from the Institute.
After the institutional greetings of Maria Grazia Giuffrida, Chairperson of the Istituto degli Innocenti, and Serena Spinelli, Councillor for Social Policies, Public Housing and International Cooperation for the Region of Tuscany, the day will get into full swing with numerous speeches by professionals, and the sharing of some experiences from Tuscany in support of families with vulnerabilities.
The conference will also be an opportunity to present the report edited and produced by the researchers of the Regional Documentation Centre for Childhood and Adolescence entitled “Intervenire nella complessità: un’analisi dei processi a sostegno delle famiglie con vulnerabilità” (Intervening in Complexity: An Analysis of Processes Supporting Families with Vulnerabilities). A video will also be shown outlining the training programme for families and practitioners, as part of the Intervention Programme for the Prevention of Institutionalisation (P.I.P.P.I.), which took place at the Institute from October 2023 to October 2024. The video teaser can be viewed here.
It is precisely on family protection and support that the Istituto degli Innocenti is working hard on the creation of a Family Centre, which will see the light of day in early 2025 at its headquarters in Florence. This new space, developed in collaboration with the Municipality of Florence and the Società della Salute di Firenze (Florence Health Society), will be dedicated to identifying and addressing the diverse needs of families, offering flexible and personalised services in coordination with existing local facilities.
